This is a new weekly update regarding our academy and what sort of week the players and coaching staff have had. We will have weekly updates form the Academy Manager regarding matches, training and how academy players are doing playing for other teams under Stratford Town banner with our U18s about to start their new Floodlit League as reigning Champions and also FC Stratford in their pursuit of promotion to step 6 this season. Also, news of any Academy players breaking into the first team training and match day plans
Monday 12th Aug
Steve Walker & Tommy Wright put the players through a heavy fitness session in the morning with the emphasis on running and working on their fitness, but also at 12noon we also have a pre season friendly V Lichfield FC Academy at the Welcombe Hotel, with their fantastic pitch facilities. With no players yet to have 90mins during preseason the running helps maintain their fitness but also, we wanted the players to play the match today knowing we had 2 x 11 teams to get mins into their legs.
Our Lads played really well, missed a hatful of chances and eventually went down 2-0 to two late goals, but this was a fantastic workout for our players against a good Lichfield Team.
Tuesday 13th Aug was rest day for the players with the exception for four players who were involved in FC Stratford Playing squad for their league match in the evening, playing against a quality Alcester Town, FC Stratford lost 3-0 but our academy lads who played are gaining massive experience playing men’s football, but also showing our Player Development plan is working by giving a pathway for our academy players to develop.
Wednesday 14th Aug..
We took the players to Everyone Active Sports Centre for a training session with a difference... a One hour spinning class which all players participated in, working very very hard to develop their strength and speed endurance. The players finished with a stretching session to help with their cool down..
Thurs 15th Aug… The players had a long warm up and stretching session to start... then into shape work and then we finished with a full hour internal match to ensure the players fitness stays high but also to ensure what we are doing on the training pitch they understand and take into matches. We then finished with a long cool down session as players prepare to play this weekend we have to make sure they are recovered properly.
