MATCHDAY! We host Mickleover Sports in the FA Trophy Today Saturday 10th November KO 3pm

1 week ago By Andy Chilton

"We go into this game full of confidence and are looking forward to the challenge" Thomas Baillie

The Blues go into this game on a hot run of form being unbeaten in the last 11 games and with two wins this week at St. Ives in the league and at home to Redditch Unites in the CSS League Cup confidence is riding high.

Our opponents Mickleover Sports currently lie in a modest 17th place in the Northern Premier league however they have strung together 3 consecutive wins including beating Redditch United in the previous round of the FA Trophy and like Town had a cup victory on Tuesday beating Gresley 2-1 in the 2nd Round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Town boss Thomas Baillie expects to have a full strength squad to select from with players having shaken off knocks and illness.

Thomas said ahead of the Mickleover clash.

"We go into this tie on a great run although we were not at our best in our last two games it's a good sign when you are winning games when not playing your best. There is more to come from this team, we know our performance levels can improve and look to the buzz of the FA Trophy to help us reach our potential. We have had scouting reports done on Mickleover and they have made a couple of recent signings so we anticipate a tough game and an interesting battle. However we go into this game full of confidence and are looking forward to the challenge"

Thomas last faced Mickleover in the FA Trophy when he was manager at Kettering Town and came out on the wrong side of a 3-2 defeat.

Town have previously faced Mickleover twice losing 2-1 in the FA vase in the year 2000 but revenge was gained the last time the sides met with a 2-1 win in the FA Cup for the Blues.
