A week to contemplate for The Gaffer

A week to contemplate for The Gaffer and to prepare for next Saturday.

The GafferWith the Gaffer leaving the dug out 5 minutes before the end of the game it signalled a bad day at the office for Town on Saturday but this was only the second defeat in the last ten for Town.

However, the nature of the defeat will be the biggest worry for The Gaffer, as he prepares for the visit of Oadby Town on Saturday and the reverse trip to Leicester two days later.

The frustrations from the dug out were clear to see on Saturday, as Rod continued to berate players for not adjusting to the conditions and playing the direct game that he was demanding.

Ironically his charges only played the direct approach in the last five minutes when chasing the game and opened up the home defence on a number of occasions.

Speculation after the game, amongst the travelling faithful, was that Rod will bring in some fresh faces in the next few days to add competition for places but will also need to find that illusive goal scorer as Jemiah limped off again on Saturday.

The Gaffer now has the benefit of 7 days to regroup, as Town and Cov Sphinx appear to be the only sides in the top half of the table not playing midweek games this week - Coalville face the tricky trip to Kirby Muxloe and Alvechurch travel to Oadby

The big freeze will inevitably have an affect on the outcome of the league this season, with so many clubs playing twice a week (at least) to catch up and who knows what the winter still has in store. But Town have the points ‘in the bag’ having played more games than anyone else in the league at this stage and we hope that a home game on Saturday can see Town return to winning ways.
