Town benefit from festive games

Whilst most other clubs have suffered the effects of the bleak mid winter, Town have managed to play on the last two Saturdays over the festive period.

The condition of the pitch appeared to take the officials by surprise on Saturday, the fact that Saturday’s game took place, the only game played in the Aspire MFA, was testament to the ground staff at the DCS Stadium, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the local derby went ahead. Only time will tell how important avoiding more mid week fixtures will be, when the final table concludes on 1st May.

Postponements elsewhere ensured a bumper crowd at the DCS Stadium – the highest gate of the season in the MFA – 265.

The forecast for the coming week is also wintry, with hard frosts predicted every night, which is likely to creative more fixture backlogs particularly for the teams competing for the top spots in the MFA. The two big games this week; Coventry Sphinx hosting league leaders Barwell and Tipton entertaining Coalville, which may well influence the final outcome of the league, could be in doubt.
